Banner & Medallion Program

The City’s Street Lighting System serves as an important community element through our streetlight Banner and Medallion Programs, which help preserve community and cultural identity. The banners can depict community events, art, and serve as markers to characterize the identity and culture of the surrounding neighborhood or local non-profits. As a cost and recovery program, all the remaining revenue is distributed equally across the City’s 15 council districts for community benefit. There are currently over 31,000 banners throughout the City. The Bureau processed approximately 62,000 banner applications in 2019-20. We are working to develop enhancements to the Streetlight Banner online management system for customers and vendors.

The Bureau will launch the City’s first digital banner system in 2021-2022.
